This report was prepared by a group of approximately 40 survivors who provided advice and designed a redress system to a brief set by the New Zealand Government in 2023. This report was not ratified by the New Zealand Government in 2025.
The brief was to provide advice about a system that was relevant to the survivors of State sanctioned abuse and torture by government staff and the representatives of religious, medical, social service and other organisations. The report was not ratified or adopted by the New Zealand Government in 2025.

Here's where to look if abuse happened to you at a school (including special schools and health schools/camps). The Ministry of Education's existing approach is to handle claims that date to before 1989. While they have traditionally preferred people to talk to school boards in the first instance, the Ministry of Education is able to help with that first contact if needed.

The Catholic Churches advice is to tell a counsellor in the first instance who can act as an agent with the church. However, if survivors want to deal directly with the Catholic Church, click the link to go to their website.

Each Presbyterian Support region has its own process for addressing claims. So, clicking below will take you to the contact details for each Presbyterian Support Regional Head Office.
